Managing Partner
Kaela excels at helping clients achieve the legal results they seek in complex and sensitive cases. Before becoming a lawyer, Kaela had a decade-long career in education: she was a teacher and administrator in high-poverty schools, a nonprofit director, and a state policy advisor. Through these experiences, she developed a strong foundation in fighting for individuals and communities that face inequitable systems.
About Kaela
Kaela’s Mission
Kaela is a trial lawyer who has secured numerous multi-million-dollar recoveries for her clients, including an eight-figure verdict. She represents individuals and families in wrongful death, life-changing injury, medical malpractice, defective products, civil rights, and other complex civil litigation matters. Known for her strategic precision and courtroom presence, Kaela combines meticulous preparation with fearless advocacy when the stakes are highest.
Kaela began her legal career clerking for Chief Judge Algenon L. Marbley of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio and Judge R. Guy Cole, Jr. of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. There, she gained rare insight into how federal judges evaluate evidence, analyze arguments, and decide the toughest cases. She also served as Editor-in-Chief of the Ohio State Law Journal, sharpening the analytical discipline that now defines her practice.
Before entering the law, Kaela served as a Teach For America corps member in New York City, where she taught in a public middle school. She later helped launch several schools and educational initiatives for underserved students, including a KIPP school in Columbus, a dropout recovery high school in Florida, and a new chapter of a national nonprofit serving public schools in Southwest Ohio. Those experiences instilled in her a deep commitment to standing up for people whose voices are often overlooked. Clients value not only her intensity in the courtroom, but also her ability to guide them through difficult moments with clarity and empathy.
Kaela has been recognized as a Super Lawyers “Rising Star” (2025, 2026), Columbus Business First “40 Under 40” (2024), and a recipient of the Moritz College of Law Outstanding Recent Alumni Award (2025) and the Robert M. Duncan Service Award (2020).
Kaela lives in Gahanna with her husband, toddler son, and doglike cat. Outside the office, she spends her time with her family, cooking, hiking, and practicing yoga.
