About Chip

Chip’s Mission
The civil justice system should be available to everyone. My career is devoted to providing that access, and to using my skill and experience as a trial lawyer to secure meaningful outcomes for those who come to me for help.

While in law school, Chip was an editor of the law review and represented the school in national moot court competitions. After graduating from law school, and before founding Cooper Elliott, Chip practiced at Porter, Wright, Morris & Arthur, one of Ohio’s largest law firms.

Many lawyers in large law firms label themselves trial lawyers even though they rarely try cases. To become a true trial lawyer, Chip left Porter Wright and founded Cooper Elliott. Since then, he’s been privileged to have represented people throughout the Midwest, trying more than fifty cases to verdict. In the process, he has cross-examined witnesses ranging from from high school students to surgeons, and from social workers to billionaires and leaders of foreign governments.

Chip staunchly believes the law can be used to make our world safer and more just. In most cases, and always with the client’s approval, he seeks an outcome that benefits not just the client but an entire community.

Chip is a husband, father, and proud grandfather. When not in trial, he enjoys spending time with his wife and grandchildren, traveling, and mentoring young attorneys.

“I cannot say enough about Chip Cooper! He has to be one of the most compassionate people – he showed empathy and professionalism at all times. When I thought I had was on my last thread, he was able to calm me and explain everything completely. He offered advice, solutions and was able to provide options that I did not know I had. I was absolutely taken aback by the time he spent with me and truly cared. I will never forget how grateful I was to have the chance to work with him.”
